The management of Passenger Port of St. Petersburg and Port of Kotka discussed topical issues in the framework of cooperation

On September 28th within the framework of cooperation between “PP SPb MF” PLC and Port of Kotka, the Port of Kotka management in the person of Executive Director Dr Kimmo Naski, Commercial Director Mr Kyösti Manninen and Marketing Manager Ms Nanna Sirola-Myllylä paid an official visit to the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg.
 
The sides discussed a number of topical issues of European Neighbourhood Instrument Cross Border Cooperation South-East Finland – Russia CBC 2014-2020, in the framework of which the partners implement large-scale infrastructure projects.
 
 
"PP SPb MF" PLC is currently conducting the State Border checkpoint reconstruction at Passenger port of St. Petersburg. At the same time, the Finnish side is reconstructing the Kantasatama port terminal in order to organize a regular international waterway between St. Petersburg and Kotka.
 
The agreement on cooperation between “PP SPb MF” PLC, Port Hamina-Kotka and Cursor Oy was singed on December 9th, 2015 in Kotka, Finland.

Also within the framework of cooperation, the parties discussed the project implementation of visa-free stay for Russian Federation citizens arriving in Finland by sea transport within 72 hours. According to the management of the ports, this initiative should strengthen the prospects for the development of regular ferry services between the cities of St. Petersburg and Kotka and increase the intensity of tourist exchange between Russia and Finland.

At the end of the meeting parties discussed the terms and prospects for the projects implementation, outlined the nearest joint initiatives and also agreed on a joint participation in events aimed at developing the tourist potential of the Hamina-Kotka region and St. Petersburg. The parties expressed their confidence that joint work will further increase the interest of tourists to the Baltic region.
 
During the business meeting "PP SPb MF" PLC representatives acquainted the guests with the port infrastructure and informed about the implementation of long-term investment projects and development plans of the Port. They also had a chance to explore the fastest sailboat in the world- “Mir”.
 
 
 
It is also a traditional Day of the Kotka City in St. Petersburg today.
