18.05.2016 Maiden call of Viking Sea

Today, on May 18th, cruise ship "Viking Sea" operated by Viking Ocean Cruises has made its maiden call to Passenger port of Saint Petersburg.

"Viking Sea" a "Viking Star" class ship was built in 2015. She has 14 decks, 465 cabins, 227 meters length and capacity of carrying 930 passengers on board.
 
Viking Ocean Cruises is Upper Premium class operator. Viking Ocean Cruises offers very sophisticated and amazing cruise tours with long time at the city ports. Now Viking Ocean Cruises operates two ships “Viking Star” и “Viking Sea”. Still the company is developing dynamically and by 2020 it will have the fleet of 7 vessels.

On May 5th, there was "Viking Sea"  christening ceremony in London during a celebration on the Thames River in Greenwich.

On May 8th,"Viking Sea" starts its first 15-days cruise visiting Bergen, Flem, Stavanger, Alborg, Copenhagen, Warnemünde, Gdynia, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm.

In St. Petersburg passengers from the "Viking Sea" are received by a tour company MIR. It is the authorized tour operator of Viking Ocean Cruises since the cruise line was found. Today MIR is one of the largest companies in the tourist sector at St. Petersburg. The head of company is Mr. Valery Fridman, who celebrated his 50-years anniversary of professional activities in tourism.

Traditionally a welcome plaque ceremony was arranged on board the vessel with participation of representatives from the Goverment ofSt. Petersburg , FGBU "Administrarion of Baltic sea ports", state border control bodies, INFLOT Worldwide and tour company MIR.

During the 2016 cruise season "Viking Sea" will make 4 calls to Passenger port of Saint Petersburg. Next year the Port expects three ships of Viking Ocean Cruises including a new one - “Viking Sky” that will be delivered in spring 2017.
