“PP of SPb MF” PLC delegation at the invitation of the mayor Henry Lindel visited Kotka city and participated in the opening of annual Maritime Festival

Maritime Festival is the biggest festival parade of the Finnish cultural summer that attracts every year more than 100 000 visitors around Finland and from other countries. The festival is held since 1962 year and encompasses a variety of activities including sea race and popular music bands concerts.

During the visit to Kotka “PP of SPb MF” PLC representatives participated in the festival opening ceremony, visited the Maritime Centre Vellamo and the Port Hamina-Kotka where learned about its infrastructure and development plans, including the project on reconstruction of the old port within the framework of  the cross-border cooperation program of European Neighborhood instrument "South-East Finland-Russia 2014-2020". At the festival opening ceremony the mayor of Kotka Mr. H. Lindelof welcomed the guests from different countries and thanked for coming the delegation from the St. Petersburg.
As a result of the meeting the parties agreed to act as Partners in the projects implemented within the framework of the cross-border cooperation program of European Neighborhood instrument "South-East Finland-Russia 2014-2020" and to submit the application documents till September.

Also the parties discussed the prospects for visa-free travelling by sea transport to Finland for citizens of the Russian Federation and preliminary agreed to arrange a round table meeting on yacht tourism at Kotka in autumn. Director General Vadim Kashirin presented a mayor with the letter of gratitude and expressed confidence in further effective cooperation.  A return visit is planned on August 16th. Also the parties plan a work meeting during the official reception in honor of the Day of Kotka in St. Petersburg on September 29th.This visit became the next step in the development of the cities´ partnership.  Within the frames of the Agreement on cooperation between Kotka city, “PP of SPb MF" PLC, Port Hamina-Kotka and Cursor Oy the parties discussed the project for the reconstruction of the border check point at Passenger Port of St. Petersburg and the establishment of a regular ferry connection between St. Petersburg and Kotka.

As previously reported, the abovementioned projects are implemented within the framework of  the cross-border cooperation program of European Neighborhood instrument "South-East Finland-Russia 2014-2020".
