Sports festival “Sea Mile 2018” took place in Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg

On September 21, 2018, more than 700 athletes took part in the seventh sports and healthy lifestyle festival “Sea Mile 2018”, which is traditionally held in the territory of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg under the auspices of  Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Saint Petersburg and Administration of Vasileostrovsky District.
This year, young athletes of comprehensive schools, young athlete centers, cadets of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, students of Saint Petersburg Mining University, Access Point “Saint Petersburg Sea Port - Passenger”, FSUE “Rosmorport”, employees of "Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg "Marine Façade" PLC, team of the Board of Veterans of Vasileostrovsky District, and representative of the Union of National and Non-Olympic Sports have traditionally become participants of the event.
Spots festival in the Port started with the performance of representatives of administration of Vasilyevsky Island of Saint Petersburg and committees of Saint Petersburg Government, the performance of acrobatic rock-n-roll group and best wishes from esteemed guests of the event, including three-time Olympic champion Kazankina T.V., Olympic champion Krasnov A.G.
Participants of “Sea Mile 2018” traditionally competed in sports contests, which were associated with marine theme. For example, 99.8 m race implies the length of Krasin ice-breaker, relay race 7х310.15 m implies the total length of port decks, 666 m running implies two lengths of the largest vessel within navigation season, MSC Preziosа. Also, participants competed in arm-wrestling, rope pulling and lifting weights.
The guests were amused by brilliant performances of cheer-leader team MOBY SPL, ferry line operator (SPL Princess Anastasia). They presented their shows in the site of Sea terminal No. 4 overlooking modern breath-taking landscapes of the city, like Saint Petersburg stadium, Lakhta Center tower and ZSD.
At the end of “Sea Mile 2018”, guests took part in the award ceremony for the winners of the sports festival, who were awarded cups, honors, medals, certificates, as well as valuable prizes provided by parterres of Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg: Moby SPL, Vozrozhdenie LLC, Astra Marin LLC, Glorax Development.
It’s worth mentioning, that “Sea Mile” has become a good tradition. The sports festival grows and develops every other year.
