Representatives of the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg took part in the XII International Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia”

From 20 to 22 November, representatives of the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg “Marine Facade”JSC took part in the XII International Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia”, which was held as part of the “Transport week” 2018. "Transport week" is an annual business event held in accordance with the order of the Government of the Russian Federation and includes a series of national and international events on transport issues. The Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Ye.I. Ditrikh opened the Forum with a welcoming speech and pointed out that the question of transport development is a priority for the Russian Federation Government. Ye.I. Ditrikh also stressed the special importance of marine and river transport as an important element of the main infrastructure, which is one of the key factors in the development of the country's economy.
     

"The Transport of Russia" Forum annually assembles over 3500 professionals of transport industry. It is the largest platform for consideration of issues of development of all main types of transport with participation of representatives of business and public authorities. The international exhibition "Transport of Russia", which was held as part of the forum, presented its exposition on the territory of 3700 sq.m., demonstrating the progress of the most significant projects in the field of rail, road, aviation, marine and river transport. The main topics of the forum this year were the creation of optimal conditions for major transport and infrastructure projects against the background of global competition, investment appeal of the transport industry, as well as training of specialists for the industry.

     

Representatives of the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg “Marine Facade”JSC took part in the industry conference “Marine and river transport as a system element of the main infrastructure", they discussed measures to improve the competitiveness of water transport and attract investments to the industry. According to  I. E. Levitin, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, more accessible and safe river transport will allow to develop internal river ways and to unload land transport intended for transportation of passengers. Participants of the conference pointed to uneven competitive conditions and administrative barriers as the main barriers to the effective development of the industry. The competitiveness of the fleet and ports was also discussed during the conversation about the drivers and challenges of the domestic shipbuilding. Speaking about international cooperation on water transport, the Deputy Minister of energy of the Russian Federation P. Y. Sorokin noted that foreign ship owners should have an incentive for entering our ports, which could be the reduction of administrative barriers.
