Regular meeting of the “Famous Champions Club”.

Today, on the 1st of October, together with “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC, Astra Marine group of companies and the “Kelma” company a regular meeting of the “Famous Champions Club” was held aboard the “Talisman” steamboat of Astra Marine group of companies. The main theme of the meeting this time – “Sports and the press”. The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports and of the Olympic Council of St. Petersburg Yuri Avdeev, and then led by the press attaché of the Olympic Council of St. Petersburg Oleg Vdovin and the three-time Olympic champion in athletics Tatyana Kazankina.

Traditionally, among the guests were the famous Olympic champions, elite sportspersons and coaches: Merited coach of USSR Vyacheslav Stepanov, biathlete Dmitry Vasilyev, athlete Marina Stepanova, checkers players Vladimir and Antonina Langhin, handball player Yuri Nesterov, cyclists Vladimir Sorokin, Vladimir Semenets and Alexander Krasnov, freestyle wrestling champion Natalia Vorobyova, athlete Vera Komisova, trampolining champion Elena Merkulova, fencer Boris Melnikov, skier Lyubov Egorova, athlete Sergey Sirov, and other outstanding sports personalities.

Members of the “Famous Champions Club”, regardless of the chilly autumn weather, enjoyed the picturesque historical parts of St. Petersburg out of the steamboat windows. Peacefully drifting through rivers and channels of our city the guests were sharing memories from their sports careers and just curious life stories. Most interesting storytellers were, by the decision of the jury, awarded memorable gifts.

In conclusion further yearly meeting were mentioned, as well as participation in the upcoming Olympic Ball, which will be held closer to the New year.
